Free AEO Audit

Can AI search actually cite your site?

Paste a URL. We fetch it the way GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot do, score it 0–100 across the signals that decide whether you get quoted, and hand you a ranked fix list. No login. Score is free.

No login. We read your public page + robots.txt. Email is only asked once your score is ready — to send the fix list.

What we check

Five things that decide if an engine quotes you

AEO is not one number you can fake. We grade the five categories an answer engine moves through — can it fetch the page, parse it, understand who you are, trust you, and find your best content.

01

AI crawler access

Does your robots.txt let GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended in? If the answer engines cannot fetch the page, nothing else matters.

02

Structured data

Organization, FAQPage, Article and Person JSON-LD are how an engine attributes a fact to your brand instead of "a website." We check what you emit.

03

Answer-ready content

Chunked H2 sections, question-shaped headings, a lead-with-the-answer summary, lists and real depth — the shape that gets lifted into a synthesized answer.

04

Entity & authority

Title, canonical, a named author and Open Graph tell an engine who is talking and whether your page is trustworthy enough to quote.

05

llms.txt & AI surface

An llms.txt file and a clean sitemap give crawlers an explicit, low-friction map straight to your most citable pages.

FAQ

AEO audit questions, answered

An AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) audit checks whether AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot — can find, read, trust and cite your page. It is the AI-search equivalent of a technical SEO audit, focused on the signals those engines actually use: crawler access, structured data, answer-ready content, authority and llms.txt.

It is fully deterministic — no AI, no guesswork. We score five weighted categories: AI crawler access (22%), structured data (26%), answer-ready content (26%), entity and authority (16%) and llms.txt and AI surface (10%). Each category is built from concrete checks against your live page, so the same URL always produces the same score.

SEO optimizes for a ranked list of blue links. AEO optimizes to be quoted inside a synthesized answer, where there is no list — often just one or two cited sources. That rewards different things: machine-readable schema, self-contained passages that answer a question in the first two sentences, named-brand mentions, and explicit crawler access for AI user-agents.

Because most AI crawlers do not run it either. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot largely read raw HTML. If your content, schema or headings are injected client-side, the engine never sees them — so a raw fetch is the honest picture of what they can actually cite. If we find almost no text, that is the warning itself.

The score, the full category breakdown and the "what crawlers see" snapshot are free with no email. We ask for an email only to send the prioritized fix list with the copy-paste snippets. No spam — we email when we ship new tools or run a sale, and you can unsubscribe anytime.

The crawler-access check looks for GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT), ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended (Gemini and AI Overviews), CCBot (Common Crawl, which feeds many models), and Apple and Meta AI agents. The content and schema checks apply to every engine that synthesizes answers from the open web.

No — it tells you exactly what to change and gives you the snippets to do it: the robots.txt lines to add, the FAQPage and Organization JSON-LD to paste, and an llms.txt starter. If you want it done for you, the free AEO Content Optimizer skill rewrites a page end-to-end, and the fractional engagement wires it into your site.
